Improving the
Restaurant Rewards App Experience
Project Overview
This project was part of a six-month comprehensive BootCamp program where a team developed concepts and then went through the user experience process to build out that concept from research to design to implementation.

Project Background
Role: I was the primary accessibility and user testing designer as part of a team of six during a six-month comprehensive UX bootcamp program, where we developed an app that streamlined restaurant rewards for customers and business owners.
Timeline: As a team we were given less than three months to come up with a concept and build out the application using the user experience process.
Team: The team consisted of six colleagues, including me, with backgrounds in creative direction, design, user research, strategic communications, business, and education.
Tools: Sketch, Adobe XD and Illustrator were used for wireframes, prototypes, and brand identity; Invision Freehand was used for team collaboration and moodboard activities; Slack and work docs were used for team communications.
Problem Statement
Restaurant owners struggle to get customer feedback through surveys and/or they leave in the middle of them leaving unresolved answers on how to improve the restaurant experience. Furthermore, they also see users not using rewards in a timely manner leaving them to expire.
Key Outcomes
As a collaborative team we used a lean design thinking approach to build out an application that would support users wanting to utilize rewards while supporting restaurants owners on gathering user feedback and improving customer experience.

Solution
Develop an application that provides customers with an easy and quick way to fill out surveys and gain rewards while business owners gather timely feedback to improve customer experience.
Results
During our testing phase, we tested seven participants, with two having specific accessibility challenges. All participants heard the same script from each team member. Additionally, all participants agreed to being recorded for testing purposes only, and then, as a team, we reviewed and shared observations.
After testing was completed, we determined that most participants enjoyed the quick and easy access to surveys and felt the design was clean and simple. However, we did need to make some design improvements to support accessibility changes in color and text and provide clarity on changes in the menu based on view (rewards vs homepage)

Due to the nature of the bootcamp structure, the concept was presented in front of professionals in the industry, but it never went to market to gather data metrics.
